TSS Old Boy Sam Hope (ATK20) interviewed Glen Richards (MCK82) who shared fascinating career highlights and some simple but poignant advice for those in the audience wanting to kick off a business of their dreams - just go for it.

Excelling at TSS (School Captain, Duke of Ed Gold, First IV, Second XV, CUO, two Honour Blazers), Glen was destined for success.

Opening a small Townsville veterinary clinic in 1994, Glen was determined to improve practices in the highly stressful industry for staff and clients, and worked hard and smart to establish Greencross Vets, now Australasia’s leading operator with 6000 employees.

Glen has used his career learnings to become a successful entrepreneur, investor, mentor and director of numerous businesses. And he’s a celeb - a panelist on Shark Tank!

Glen generously shared a wealth of advice with the riveted audience. One of many takeouts: “In the business world you need resilience, passion and people who are prepared to back founders and give it a red hot go. Occasionally things don’t go to plan - dust yourself off and go again.”

Glen signed off his Captain’s Report in 1982 with: “When we talk of TSS, we will talk with pride and admiration of such a fine school.” Forty two years later, he did just that today - thank you, Glen.
