Basketball is a popular Term 3 sport that provides for all levels of student participation. Thirty seven TSS teams compete in the GPS competition which is Queensland’s premier High School competition from Years 5 to 12.
TSS Basketball provides many opportunities from the Preparatory School to the high-performance program in the Senior School. Coaches work with students to develop a progressive and dynamic program to advance boys with their Basketball aspirations.
Many students have achieved their dreams of representing their State and even Australia, and several players have achieved USA scholarship opportunities in recent years.
Our First V Team is led by former Boomer and veteran of the NBL Mr Anthony Petrie (Year 7 TSS Teacher) and our students are a testament of hard work and determination, representing the Red, White and Blue with pride.
The Southport School has tasted success, winning the Queensland GPS Basketball title three times—2009, 2012, and 2022 —and the School CBSQ Title in 2012 and 2021.
Winner - National Championship in 2023
